Dallas, TX – The 2065 preseason kicked off with a defensive showdown as Dallas secured a 15-6 victory over Kansas City in a game where kickers took center stage. While both offenses struggled to find the end zone, standout performances from key players helped shape the outcome.

With neither team able to break through for a touchdown, the game was dictated by field position and special teams execution. Dallas kicker Roy Valez was the hero of the night, drilling five field goals, including a clutch 55-yarder in the third quarter that put Dallas ahead for good. On the other side, Kansas City's William Marriott converted both of his field goal attempts, keeping his team within striking distance until the final minutes.

Despite the low score, the game wasn’t without excitement as Dallas dominated the TOP. Dallas WR Marvin Hitz made 4 receptions for 39 yards, including a 28 yard reception. Dallas WR Benjamin Denn also racked up 4 catches for 29 yards to keep Kansas City's defense on their toes. Kansas City allowed 4 sacks in the game, courtesy of Dallas' defensive line, which wasn't the only part of the defense that performed well. Dallas' Ryan Conn picked up an interception late in the 4th quarter that helped the Dallas get possession as game time was limited.

Kansas City’s Jerry Martinez provided some moments while recording the game leading 13 tackles. Robert Fisher and Jason Moore forced a fumble, each, on Dallas, who were able to capitalize and maintain possession. Kansas City's lack of 3rd down efficiency (1/13) kept them from making much progress, along with total yards of 136.

Following the game, Dallas head coach Ricky Tartt praised his team’s discipline and execution on special teams. “We would have liked to see more from our offense, but our defense and kicking game won us this one,” Tartt said. “Marvin [Hitz] showed he’s a playmaker, and Valez was automatic tonight.”

Kansas City’s Coach Douglas Windom remained optimistic despite the loss. “We had some bright spots and our defense held them to field goals. We just need to finish drives,” Windom remarked.

With their first preseason test behind them, Dallas will look to build on its defensive success while searching for more consistency on offense and in the redzone. Kansas City, meanwhile, will focus on improving its own red zone efficiency as both teams continue preparing for the upcoming regular season.
