Personally. It'd be a big project but bring in a lot of players if he added a mechanic where players have a frame that only the drafting team or teams that have owned the player can see and the owner selects an ideal playing weight in which position is irrelevant.
Then as suggested they take fatigue losses and injury risks relative to the weight of contacting players. Meaning a CB at DE all game will almost certainly be injured out by the end of the game.
Then for positions training have it selectable with training being relative to ideal position weight and actual weight for various stats. Also make red bars trainable based on frame and weight but it takes training to grow this limiting their training elsewhere. This could add in a project dynamic where yeah you can get the speed boost but due to lack of training in say game planning he's useless or at least limited until he is game plan training again. This could add a viability option for talented but slow/weak players. A 45 speed lb won't grow to a 90 but as long as he doesn't have a DT frame he can grow into a very serviceable 70-75 speed by year 6. And the game planning would be by position and stats. So growth will require some training making fully grown veterans much more effective than growing rookies. It'll be up to their owners how they prioritize growth vs game planning and position prep.
I think this would add a ton of depth and solve a lot of issues.
